Karolina Kowalkiewicz credited her old foe Joanna Jedrzejczyk for her UFC Fight Night 207 victory during an emotional post-match conference.
“It was a hard decision, but I knew it would be good for me,” Kowalkiewicz said. “… Joanna helped me to organize this whole fight camp. J.J., thank you very much, I am here because of you. This winning is teamwork.” Kowalkiewicz was on a poor run of form (14-7 MMA, 6 -7 ) before defeating Felice Herrig (14-10 MMA, 5-5 UFC ) in the second round of their strawweight bout at the UFC Apex.
In 2016, strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk promised to defeat Karolina Kowalkiewicz at the pre-fight press conference and continue her reign, and then delivered on that vow, defending her title in a unanimous decision, scored 49-46 on all three cards and now the two have finally showed good sportsmanship by collaborating.
After the champion’s emotional post-match press conference, it was clear that her old foe had a hand in her victory indirectly and the collaboration was worth it.
