Swakopmund, one of Namibia’s oldest towns yesterday celebrated 130 years of existence.

Month-long festivities and activities including special exhibitions, creative and artistic plays, sports, youth talent shows and markets officially kicked off yesterday as part of the celebration.

The birthday event was open to all residents and visitors from all around Namibia and abroad in recognition of the founding of Swakopmund, the country’s main harbor 130 years ago.

 Swakopmund is known for its German-style architecture, beautiful beaches and views of the red dunes of the Namib Desert overlooking the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. “Swakopmund is not only a favorite destination with tourists, but also with local Namibians. The town appeals to both holidaymakers and property buyers, whether for investment purposes or residential needs,” she says.

One of the appealing factors of living in Swakopmund is the moderate temperatures, rarely varying with more than 10 degrees between minimum and maximum. Swakopmund is the best place with a good weather ever.
